The Dinner Hour
Bali caters to every taste and every palate.
No matter what your diet is, you will always find something good
to eat. In Nusa Dua, all hotels have a variety of restaurants,
each with its own specialty nights, where specialties are served.
Pasar Senggol is a name for a miniature of a Balinese village
with a traditional temple, stores and food stalls in the grounds
of the Grand Hyatt Bali. It bursts into action every evening with
its cultural shows on the open-air stage.
Each night a different dance is performed. During
the day, Pasar Senggol is abuzz with arts and crafts lessons and
exhibitions. At the same hotel, Lila Cita pampers guests with
its colonial style decor complete with an outdoor terrace. Enjoy
sensational cocktails while a live band entertains you.
Nusa Dua Galeria has an outdoor courtyard with
restaurants offering a lively atmosphere.
In Jimbaran you can enjoy excellent fresh seafood
at the fish night-market just near the InterContinental. Something
more Balinese can be found in Benoa at Bumbu Bali, an incredible
restaurant run by an expatriate chef and his Balinese wife.
In Sanur, the hotels and restaurants all serve
a variety of food and the night market is worth a visit.
In Ubud, not to be missed are Cafe Wayan and
Casa Luna. just some 20 minutes drive from Ubud on the way to
Pujung is a new place called Kampung Cafe that becomes the gastronomic
talk of the town. It serves excellent Indonesian, Balinese, Southeast
Asian and European food.
Made's Warung is a great place for people watching
and nearby TJ's serves the best Mexican and Margaritas on the
island. The Bounty, The Ship, the Hard Rock and the Macaroni Club
are all good places to warm up for the night ahead.
Uptown in Seminyak is another Mexican restaurant,
Poco Loco. There is also the very stylish Made's Warung Seminyak
serving great food, as well as the other popular La Teras and
Goa 2001. Bestest Cafe combines acid jazz and fusion cuisine to
create a fun place for exquisite dining.
For that exclusive high-quality dinner in a restaurant
with reasonable prices, try Kafe Warisan, a little further along
the road set amongst the rice terraces. It is advisable to book
as this is a very popular venue. La Lucciola is also popular in
the evenings; you are advised to book as its beach side location
is unique.
