Indonesian and Balinese
daily conversation that some may find it very interesting
and useful. The overall conversations are based on most common
questions and answers, as well normal situation that most likely
to occur during a visit to Bali
Some examples of voice pronunciations may also available for
download. They will be indicated by the icon of .
Please note that intonation may be used differently under different
circumstances.
However this website is not intended to provide or act as language
tools/resources therefore should any individual(s) seeks for better
resources, the section may not be a good reference. We will at
further focus mainly to the Indonesian language, for it is our
national language, and learning Balinese is much harder then the
Indonesian, due to the complex-ness of the Balinese language.
As above mentioned, there will only simple Indonesian/Balinese
introduce in this website, as provided in categories below.
We hope that this section will be of any use to those planning

Alphabet reading:
'a' = ah (wihout the sound of h at the end )
'b' = bay (without the ay sound at the end)
'c' = ch (like ch in channel)
'd' = day (without the sound of y)
'e' =
'f' = eff or aph (like the philosophy)
just add a in front of the ph
'g' = gay (without the sound of y)
'h' = huh or the h sound in humble
'i' = e (ues, that's right. i = e in Indonesian)
'j' = jay
'k' = Vodka (without the vod)
'l' = el (spanish pronounciation of ie el
diablo)
'm' = em (similar to em in emma)
'n' = ann
'o' = owe
'p' = pat (without the at sound)
'q' = kee
'r' = this is the hard one. We roll our tongue at the end similar
to the spanish. If you understand the spanish R than it is very
similar to that.
reading example : err in error

't' = t in take is the best
example
'u' = Oo like the 2 o sound in ooze
'v' = like the V in Volt. Pronounce like vay without the y sound.
'w' = way (without the ay sound)
'x' = axe (more like saying (ae)xe) but the e
sound is undistinguished)
'y' = yey (without the ey)
'z' = z more like zat
The english pronounciation if written in Indonesian will be as
below:
the letter b = bi (read similar as bee in english),
the letter c = si (similar to see in english),
the letter d = di (similar to dee in english),
the letter e = i, etc
