There are 6 tracks available to
choose from, with certain symbolical meanings that correlate to
Balinese life. The tracks are as below:
Yellow track (Bali Cosmos - Nirwana, Earth and Unseen
World)
It will take you about three hours. On this track
you will observes the role of some plants in day to day life of
the Balinese, especially the needs of plant for ritual ceremonies.
One interesting site on the track is the shrine beside the pine
(Dacrycarpus imbricatus). It is shady and an appropriate place
for orchids and home to birds and other animals while the large
tree is also believed to be a home to the spirits of unseen world.
So it must be well treated to avoid their anger and inconvenience.
Offerings also present to maintain this harmony.
Orange tracks (Tropical forest)
This track represents the forest of Indonesia where it is planted
some trees that become characteristic to Indonesia, like rasamala
(Altingia excelsia), one kind of pine (Casuarina junghuhniana)
and trees that producing resin.
Violet track (Orchids and Cacti)
Various colorful orchids are available at the orchid garden. There
are two orchid gardens, at the lower and the higher one. Each
has its own unique species. Two greenhouses are provided on the
higher level to breed the orchids. Meanwhile other 2 greenhouses
are provided for cacti. Most of them originated from the desert
in the North and Middle America.
Red track (traditional Balinese compound)
This track will lead you to enter the house compound of Bali.
In general the compound consists of family gate, shrines, housing
and toiletry buildings. Each buildings and the space arrangement
are well designed in accordance with the guidance called Asta
Kosala Kosali (Balinese geomancy). It means to maintain the harmony
of the settlers with their God, other members of the village and
its environment.
Blue track (Ferns)
This garden specialized for any kinds of terns grow on this archipelago.
It is called Cyathea Garden. Cyathea is a kinds of the largest
fern found in this garden. Ferns grown on this garden representing
those are edible, used for needs of ritual ceremony and handicrafts.
Bird’s track
The right time for watching birds is in the morning and afternoon.
Wide spaces that are available let you choose the place for your
convenience ranging from the bush, grass field, tree's canopy
or at the border of the garden with the forest reserve. Some of
the common birds found in this garden are javan Kingfisher (Halcyon
cyanoventris), spotted dove (Streptopelia chinensis) and yellow-vented
bulbul (Pycnonotus simplex). |
